Report: Israel Approved Qatari Funds to Gaza Before October 7
Original: Report: Israel Backed Qatari Gaza Funding Before October 7, Approved Hamas Recipients
A report by Haaretz says Israel backed Qatari funding to Gaza before the October 7 attack, and approved the Hamas-affiliated recipients who received the money. The arrangement, long described as aimed at easing humanitarian conditions and keeping calm at the border, is drawing renewed scrutiny over Israeli policy toward Hamas in the lead-up to the assault.
Why now: Fresh reporting has reignited debate over Israel's pre-war policy of allowing Qatari money into Gaza despite Hamas control.
