Shai Gilgeous-Alexander eyes rare third straight NBA MVP

Original: OKC's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander could join rare club of back-to-back-to-back NBA MVPs this season

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is in position to win a third consecutive NBA Most Valuable Player award this season, which would place him in the rare club of players with back-to-back-to-back MVPs, a feat achieved only by legends like Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell and Larry Bird. Coming off an MVP season and an NBA title run with the Thunder, his continued dominance is fueling the three-peat talk.

Why now: Gilgeous-Alexander is performing at an MVP level again, putting a three-peat within realistic reach.
