Trump announces plan for new East Potomac Links golf course

President Trump has announced a plan to develop a new golf course, East Potomac Links, at the East Potomac Park site in Washington, DC. The proposal concerns a publicly discussed redevelopment of the waterfront parkland golf area. Details on cost, approvals and timeline have not been laid out, and reaction is likely to focus on the use of public park space for a project associated with the president's golf business interests.

Why now: The plan raises questions about developing public parkland in Washington and the president's ties to golf projects.
