Former UNRWA chief Lazzarini calls Gaza destruction 'a disgrace'

Original: Former UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini: 'The destruction of Gaza has been acknowledged by the international community. It's a disgrace'

Philippe Lazzarini, former head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), condemned the international community over Gaza, saying the destruction of the territory has been acknowledged yet left unaddressed. In comments reported by Le Monde, he called the situation 'a disgrace', voicing frustration at the gap between recognition of Gaza's devastation and the international response to it.

Why now: Ongoing anger over the scale of destruction in Gaza and criticism of the international community's failure to act keeps the remarks in the news.
