Original: rein de vries cambuur

Rein de Vries, the long-serving stadium announcer of Dutch football club SC Cambuur, is stepping down after 41 years, calling his final match for the club. The Frisian broadcaster Omrop Fryslân reports that De Vries says the realisation that his time behind the microphone is ending is only now sinking in, as fans and the club mark the departure of a familiar voice.

Why now: A beloved stadium announcer is retiring after more than four decades with the club, an emotional farewell for supporters.
