Indian commentator mocks the left over patriotism
Original: I thought the left believed that "patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel"
Indian commentator Kushal Mehra accused the political left of hypocrisy on patriotism, saying it once dismissed the sentiment as 'the last refuge of the scoundrel' yet now embraces nationalist language. The quip drew thousands of likes and is fuelling the ongoing online debate in India over who gets to claim patriotism and whether the left's stance on national pride has shifted.
Why now: Ongoing polarised debate in India about patriotism and political hypocrisy
