St Andrews students snub The Office star's Kevin Malone
Original: the office
Students at the University of St Andrews have elected a new rector, and Brian Baumgartner — known for playing Kevin Malone in the US version of The Office — was not the choice, according to a report in The Times. The result ends any prospect of the actor taking on the largely ceremonial role, which involves representing student interests.
Why now: The novelty of a US sitcom actor running for a traditional Scottish university post drew widespread attention to the election result.
