AI systems turning to humans for physical labor, report says
Original: Hire a human: The future where AIs get people to do physical labor is upon us
El País reports on an emerging future in which artificial intelligence systems delegate physical tasks to human workers. As AI takes over digital and cognitive work, machines increasingly need people to carry out actions in the real world, from deliveries to manual labor. The article argues this inversion — humans hired by algorithms — is no longer hypothetical and is becoming a practical reality.
Why now: A major newspaper is spotlighting the reversal of the usual AI narrative, with machines employing humans rather than replacing them.
