Russian satellite Kosmos-2612 closes in on ICEYE X-36 orbit
Original: Of concern: "Russian Kosmos-2612 Satellite Nears ICEYE X-36 Orbit" — Военное дело https:// voennoedelo.com/en/posts/id21
The Russian military satellite Kosmos-2612 has moved into an orbit close to that of ICEYE X-36, a Finnish commercial radar-imaging satellite. The maneuver is being flagged as a potential concern for commercial space operators, given that Russian inspection satellites have previously been linked to shadowing other spacecraft in orbit. Defense and space watchers are sharing the report widely.
Why now: A Russian military satellite approaching a Western commercial satellite raises fears of orbital surveillance or interference amid ongoing tensions.
