South Sudan partners with Israel's Gilat for satellite internet
Original: South Sudan partners with Israel’s Gilat for nationwide satellite internet
South Sudan has signed a partnership with Israel-based satellite communications company Gilat to deliver nationwide satellite internet coverage. The deal aims to expand connectivity across the country, where limited infrastructure has left much of the population offline. Observers are watching what the agreement could mean for access to digital services in one of the world's least connected nations.
Why now: A new connectivity deal between South Sudan and an Israeli tech firm is notable for a country with very limited internet infrastructure.
