Irene Villa marks 35 years since ETA attack
Original: irene villa
Spanish journalist and writer Irene Villa, who lost three fingers and her left leg in the 1991 ETA car bombing that targeted her and her mother, is marking 35 years since the attack, saying she will celebrate the extra time of life with her mother as she does every 17 October. She is also in the headlines because her husband has been hospitalised with blood clots and a pulmonary embolism, which she described as another life-threatening scare.
Why now: The 35th anniversary of the attack falls on 17 October, alongside news of her husband's hospitalisation.
