Driver reported after cattle found in dire conditions on motorway transport
Original: il dolomiti
A driver has been reported to authorities after cattle were discovered crammed and in evident distress aboard a livestock truck travelling on a motorway in Italy. Inspectors have launched checks at the farm of origin, and the case is drawing attention to the conditions animals endure during long-distance road transport. Separately, local coverage notes a leadership change, with a call for applications opened for a new director general.
Why now: Images and reports of suffering animals during transport have sparked public outrage and debate over animal welfare rules.
