Apple Marks 2017 12-inch MacBook as Obsolete
Original: 2017 12-inch MacBook Obsolete: What Apple's Change Means
Apple has added the 2017 12-inch MacBook to its obsolete products list, meaning the laptop no longer qualifies for hardware service or parts at Apple Stores and authorized service providers. The ultra-portable, discontinued in 2019, was the last of Apple's fanless 12-inch MacBook line. Owners facing repairs will now need to turn to third-party repair shops or consider upgrading to a newer machine.
Why now: Apple's decision to formally retire service support for the popular 12-inch MacBook affects existing owners and signals the model's end of life.
