Norwegian teenager jailed 20 years over hitman plot
Original: "Oh no! Consequences! That doesn't happen in a video game!!" Idiot child. https://www. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/o ct
A Norwegian teenager, Johannes Kongsnes Natland, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after hiring a hitman from an Iranian criminal gang, according to a Guardian report dated 16 October 2026. Commenters are reacting with mockery and disbelief, contrasting the severity of the real-world consequences with the detached attitude sometimes associated with gaming culture, and debating the naivety of someone who reportedly believed the consequences would stay virtual.
Why now: People are talking about it because of the shock of a teenager facing a two-decade sentence for hiring an actual hitman, and the sentiment that he failed to grasp real-world consequences.
