US Bill Proposes Agricultural and Mining Partnership with Sudan
A bill in the United States Congress proposes establishing an agricultural and mining partnership with Sudan. The legislation would frame cooperation in these two sectors as a basis for engagement between the two countries. Details of the bill's provisions, its sponsors, and its prospects in Congress have not yet been widely reported.
Why now: Sudan's vast agricultural land and mineral wealth, including gold, make any US legislative move toward sectoral partnership notable at a time of limited formal engagement.
