Ilhan Omar Faces Investigation Over Her Citizenship
Original: Ilhan Omar Investigation Aims to Build Case for Stripping Her Citizenship
A Wall Street Journal report says an investigation into Representative Ilhan Omar is aimed at building a case to strip her of her US citizenship. The report has drawn sharp attention given Omar's profile as a prominent Somali-born Democratic congresswoman and frequent target of political attacks, raising questions about the legal basis for denaturalization efforts against a sitting member of Congress.
Why now: A major report alleges a government effort to denaturalize a sitting congresswoman, a highly unusual and politically charged move.
