UK electricity output per person back at 1968 levels
Original: Le Royaume-Uni produit autant d’électricité par habitant qu’en 1968. La France, deux fois plus. ➡️ https://www. actu-alt
French media are highlighting a comparison of electricity production per capita in Europe: the United Kingdom now generates no more electricity per inhabitant than it did in 1968, while France produces twice as much per person. The contrast is being read as a reflection of the UK's slower build-out of power capacity, including nuclear, compared with France's long-standing nuclear-heavy electricity system.
Why now: The striking half-century stagnation in UK per-capita electricity output, contrasted with France, is fuelling debate on energy policy and security of supply.
