Congressman Unveils Bill To Protect Video Game Ownership
Original: Rep. Ritchie Torres Announces Congressional Legislation To Protect Video Game Ownership: 'If You Pay For It, You Own It'
New York Representative Ritchie Torres has announced plans to introduce congressional legislation protecting consumers' right to own video games, summarising the principle as 'If you pay for it, you own it.' The move responds to growing concern that digital storefronts can revoke or disable games players have purchased, and gamers are welcoming the proposal.
Why now: Fears over losing access to purchased digital games have intensified, making a legal guarantee of ownership newly topical.
