Original: Berlin Philharmonic planning to vacate Philharmonie for renovation from 2032-40
The Berlin Philharmonic is planning to move out of its iconic Philharmonie concert hall so the building can undergo renovation from 2032 to 2040. The project would leave Germany's most famous orchestra without its home venue for roughly eight years, raising questions about where its concerts will take place and how the beloved hall will be modernised.
Why now: A lengthy planned closure of one of the world's most renowned concert halls directly affects a flagship orchestra and its audiences.
