UK bookstores pull Sally Rooney novels over Palestine Action support
Original: UK bookstores scramble as Sally Rooney's novels are withdrawn because she supports Palestine Action
British booksellers are removing Sally Rooney's novels from shelves after the author voiced support for Palestine Action, which the UK government has proscribed as a terrorist organisation. Retailers face confusion over whether stocking her books breaches the law, and readers and writers are debating the fallout for free expression and boycott politics.
Why now: A best-selling author's political stance has triggered legal uncertainty and free-speech controversy across the UK book trade.
