Original: Trump administration seeks to strip Ilhan Omar of US citizenship: WSJ
The Trump administration is seeking to strip Representative Ilhan Omar of her US citizenship, according to the Wall Street Journal. Investigators have subpoenaed relatives and examined her immigration records as part of the effort. The move targets the Minnesota congresswoman, a frequent critic of the president, and is drawing attention amid concerns about the use of government power against political opponents.
Why now: Reports that the federal government is trying to revoke the citizenship of a sitting member of Congress are extraordinary and politically charged.
