Original: Book covers / jackets. What are they for? # AmReading # bookstodon

Book lovers are asking a simple question online: what are book covers and jackets actually for? The discussion touches on whether dust jackets still serve a purpose beyond protection, given their role in marketing, design and giving readers information about the book and author.
