Penguins' refusal to choose rebuild or contention backfires

The Pittsburgh Penguins are being criticized for refusing to commit to either winning now or rebuilding for the future. The franchise, still anchored by its aging core, has tried to stay competitive while stockpiling prospects, but the halfway approach is producing poor results and a confusing roster. Commentators argue the indecision is now hurting both the team's current record and its long-term outlook, leaving fans increasingly frustrated.

Why now: The Penguins' middling start has reignited debate over whether the team should finally commit to a full rebuild around Sidney Crosby's twilight years.
