Gaza's child amputees outgrow their prosthetics
Original: Gaza’s child amputees are growing faster than their prosthetics allow
Children in Gaza who lost limbs in the war are growing so quickly that their prosthetic devices no longer fit, leaving many unable to use them. Aid groups and doctors warn that replacement limbs, fittings and rehabilitation are in short supply amid the ongoing blockade and damaged health system, leaving hundreds of young amputees without adequate care.
Why now: Renewed attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza has put child casualties and long-term medical needs back in the spotlight.
