In Saxony, the AfD faction is seeking to summon former Minister President Michael Kretschmer and former health minister Petra Köpping as witnesses before the state parliament's inquiry committee into coronavirus policy. The committee is examining decisions made by the previous government during the pandemic. The move keeps political disputes over Saxony's COVID-19 handling in the spotlight.

Why now: Ongoing political debate in Saxony over pandemic-era decisions by the former state government.
