Police seize robot after teenager groped, suspect young men were operating it
Original: Police seize robot that groped 16-year-old girl, investigate whether young men were at the controls
Police in an undisclosed location have seized a robot accused of groping a 16-year-old girl, and are investigating whether the machine was being controlled by young men at the time of the incident. The case raises questions about accountability when remotely operated machines are used to commit acts against people, and authorities have not yet named suspects or detailed charges.
Why now: The unusual combination of a robot, a sexual offence against a minor, and questions over who was really responsible has drawn widespread attention.
