A team is building QBoard, an open source keyboard for Android that offers swipe typing, autocorrect, emoji support and multiple languages. Its pitch is privacy: no typing data leaves the phone, with no cloud sync and no ads. Release date and further details are promised soon, and the developers are inviting feedback.

Why now: Privacy-conscious Android users are interested in keyboard alternatives that collect no typing data, especially amid concern about how much keystroke data commercial keyboards gather.
