Tillis urges Pentagon watchdog probe into Starshield loss in Ukraine
Original: Tillis calls on Pentagon IG to investigate Ukraine’s Starshield loss
Senator Thom Tillis has called on the Pentagon's inspector general to investigate how Ukraine lost access to SpaceX's Starshield satellite service, a military-grade communications network. The issue has drawn attention because Starshield supports Ukrainian battlefield communications, and questions remain over how the disruption happened and whether US military assets or contracts were affected.
Why now: Concerns over battlefield communications and the role of SpaceX's military satellite network in the Ukraine war have made the loss politically sensitive.
