Ukraine to restart strikes on Russian oil refineries, Zelensky says
Ukraine will resume attacks on Russian oil refineries, President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced. The strikes, which targeted Russia's refining capacity in earlier phases of the war, are being restarted as Kyiv seeks to pressure Moscow's economy and disrupt fuel supplies funding the Russian war effort. The announcement comes amid continued fighting and ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Why now: The resumption of long-range strikes on Russian energy infrastructure marks a significant escalation with potential effects on global oil markets.
