Germany moves to turn tank maker KNDS into a state-owned group

Original: knds

Germany's government wants to turn KNDS, the Franco-German tank manufacturer behind the Leopard 2, into a state-controlled company, Handelsblatt reports. The plan would give Berlin a direct stake in one of Europe's leading defence manufacturers as the country ramps up military spending and seeks more control over arms production capacity.

Why now: Growing debate in Germany over state intervention in the defence industry amid rearmament efforts.
