Sir Gareth Southgate has ruled out a return to Premier League management. The former England manager, who stepped down after Euro 2024 and was later knighted, says he does not intend to take charge of a club side in the English top flight. Sports outlets including ESPN carried his comments, and fans are debating what the decision means for his next move, with many expecting him to hold out for a national team role rather than club football.

Why now: Southgate's stated intention not to manage a Premier League club has reignited speculation about whether he will take another major national team job.
