Moldova moves diplomatic post from Moscow to Tokyo
Original: Moldova moves diplomatic post from Moscow to Tokyo. Popșoi: The priority is to attract Japanese investments
Moldova is relocating a diplomatic post from Moscow to Tokyo, Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi said, citing the goal of attracting Japanese investment as a priority. The move underlines Chisinau's westward pivot in foreign policy amid its push to deepen ties with Japan and distance itself from Russia following years of strained relations.
Why now: Moldova's shift of diplomatic resources from Russia to Japan signals its realignment away from Moscow and interest in Asian investment.
