Dragonfly spotted hunting in UK garden in October
Original: I was watching an unusual event for October in the UK, a dragonfly skillfully manoeuvring it's way through overgrown veg
A nature observer in the UK described seeing a dragonfly actively manoeuvring through overgrown vegetation in an autumn garden, an unusual event for October when the insects are typically gone. The observation turned into a wider conversation, with the dragonfly's tiny neural network of under a million neurons and its compound eyes praised as remarkable examples of efficient natural engineering compared with modern artificial systems.
Why now: The late-season sighting is rare for October and people are fascinated by the dragonfly's efficient natural navigation abilities.
