Burnham treads carefully in Zelensky visit
Original: Burnham treads carefully in Zelensky visit, balancing Trump and Ukraine
Andy Burnham hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky while working to avoid upsetting Donald Trump, according to the BBC. The Greater Manchester mayor reportedly balanced expressions of support for Ukraine against the sensitivities of US politics under Trump, as Western backing for Kyiv remains a contentious issue. The visit drew attention to how British political figures navigate ties with both Ukraine and the Trump administration.
Why now: Zelensky's engagements with Western political figures remain closely watched amid ongoing debate over support for Ukraine under Trump.
