Li Ka-shing death rumor denied by CK Hutchison
Original: 李嘉诚
Rumors spread that Hong Kong's richest man, 98-year-old Li Ka-shing, had died, pushing his name to trending lists across multiple countries. CK Hutchison, his conglomerate, quickly issued a four-word rebuttal saying there was absolutely no truth to the reports. Chinese social media users noted how quickly the false rumor circulated, while other coverage revisited his massive oil market investments.
Why now: A viral false death rumor about one of Asia's most famous billionaires forced an unusually rapid denial from his company.
