Google Play opens to private vibe-coded Android apps
Original: Google Play now lets anyone build private, vibe-coded apps that run on Android
Google Play now supports private, AI-generated apps that individuals can build for themselves and run on Android devices without a public release. The change means people with no coding background can create personal apps through simple prompts and distribute them to themselves via Google's store. Developers and tech commentators are weighing what this shift means for app development and the traditional Play Store model.
Why now: Google's support for AI-generated personal apps lowers the barrier to Android app creation, which is a notable platform change.
