Epic Games launches AI-assisted app launcher in preview

Original: Epic Games vibe codes new launcher because 'programming is hard,' claims it starts 46% faster than Steam Epic Games has

Epic Games has released a redesigned launcher into preview that it says was largely built with AI-assisted 'vibe coding', with a company remark that 'programming is hard'. Epic claims the new app starts 46% faster than Steam, positioning speed as its main selling point. The admission that core software was built this way is drawing attention and debate among developers about AI-generated production code.

Why now: Epic openly admitting it vibe-coded a flagship launcher sparks debate over AI-written production software and the direct Steam comparison.
