Original: U of A physicists honoured to be part of Nobel winner Francis Halzen's IceCube Neutrino Observatory team
Physicists at the University of Alberta are being recognised for their contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory, the Antarctica-based detector led by Francis Halzen, who has been honoured with a Nobel Prize. The university celebrated its researchers' part in the international collaboration, which detects neutrinos beneath the South Pole ice and has advanced understanding of high-energy cosmic particles.
Why now: Francis Halzen's Nobel recognition has drawn attention to the IceCube team and its contributors, including the University of Alberta.
