Ancient footprints reveal abrupt ice age climate shifts
Original: Footprints in the (white) sand: Humans experienced abrupt environmental shifts during the last ice age
Researchers at the University of Arizona report that humans living during the last ice age endured abrupt environmental shifts, a finding drawn from ancient footprints preserved in white sand. The footprints serve as a record of how quickly conditions changed for early human populations, offering new insight into how our ancestors adapted to rapid climate variability thousands of years ago.
Why now: New University of Arizona research linking ancient footprints to abrupt ice age climate changes is drawing attention amid ongoing interest in climate history.
