Google Play now supports private AI-coded Android apps
Original: Thx, I hate it. Google Play now lets anyone build private, vibe-coded apps that run on Android | TechCrunch https:// tec
Google Play has added support for private, custom-built 'vibe-coded' apps on Android, letting anyone publish AI-generated apps that run only for themselves rather than going through the public store. TechCrunch reported the change, and reactions online are mixed: some see a genuinely useful way to build small personal tools, while others dismiss the output as AI slop cluttering the platform. The move signals Google further opening its app ecosystem to casual, AI-assisted development.
Why now: Google loosening Play Store publishing rules to allow personal AI-generated apps raises questions about quality, security and the future of app development
