Retiring Rep. Don Bacon's criticism sparks questions about GOP conscience
Original: Retiring Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) posted this criticism. Do other republicans in office have the spine? Or a conscience? ht
Don Bacon, the retiring Republican congressman from Nebraska, posted a criticism that is drawing attention, with commenters asking whether other Republicans in office have the spine or conscience to speak up similarly. The criticism appears tied to a New York Times report on Ukraine, Starlink and energy infrastructure. Bacon, who is not seeking re-election, is being framed as one of the few in his party willing to break ranks.
Why now: Bacon is retiring and can speak freely, prompting debate over why few sitting Republicans criticize their party's positions.
