Italy says no auto plants available for Chinese buyers
Original: No auto plants available in Italy for Chinese purchase, Italian minister says https:// reut.rs/4hHkYBW
An Italian minister has said there are no automobile plants in Italy available for purchase by Chinese companies. The statement comes as China's carmakers look to expand production in Europe amid trade tensions and tariffs, and as Italy courts foreign industrial investment, including talks involving Chinese automakers. The remarks signal Rome's caution over selling strategic manufacturing assets.
Why now: Chinese automakers are seeking European production bases and Italy's stance affects possible investment deals.
