The Philadelphia Phillies have promoted Don Mattingly from interim manager to permanent manager, signing him to a two-year contract. The former Yankees star and longtime Marlins skipper now takes full command of the club after serving in the interim role, with the deal giving him a two-season window to lead the team.

Why now: Baseball fans are reacting to the Phillies' decision to remove the interim tag and commit to Mattingly for two more years.
