Epic Games says its new launcher was 'vibe coded'

Original: Epic’s new games launcher is ‘vibe coded’

Epic Games has unveiled a major preview refresh of its PC games launcher, and the company says the update was largely 'vibe coded' — meaning built with heavy reliance on AI-generated code rather than traditional hand-written programming. The admission is drawing attention as one of the higher-profile uses of AI-assisted development in mainstream consumer software, sparking debate about the reliability and future of AI-written code.

Why now: Epic openly describing a major product as 'vibe coded' fuels ongoing debate about AI-generated software in consumer products.
