George Saunders Novel Becomes Opera by Missy Mazzoli
Original: 'Lincoln in the Bardo' Leaps From Book to Stage in Missy Mazzoli's New Opera
George Saunders's Booker Prize-winning novel 'Lincoln in the Bardo' has been adapted into a new opera by composer Missy Mazzoli, bringing the story of Abraham Lincoln mourning his young son Willie to the stage. The adaptation is drawing attention for translating the novel's unconventional, ghost-populated structure into a musical theatre work.
