Only the Wrong Year Separates Elysium's Dystopia From Today's News
Original: Voll undufte, wenn 1 die Beschreibung eines dystopischen SciFi-Films nur noch an der falschen Jahreszahl von Nachrichten
A widely shared remark notes that the plot description of the dystopian science fiction film 'Elysium' — set in 2154, where a wealthy elite lives on a space station while everyone else struggles on an impoverished Earth — reads almost exactly like current news reports, with the fictional future year being the only giveaway. Commenters are agreeing that the film's stark divide between super-rich and everyone else feels closer to reality than satire.
Why now: People are struck by how closely the film's dystopian class divide mirrors present-day headlines.
