UN envoy calls on South Sudan leaders to pursue consensus
Original: UN envoy urges South Sudan leaders to choose consensus over confrontation
The UN envoy to South Sudan has called on the country's political leaders to choose consensus over confrontation, according to Eye Radio. The appeal comes as South Sudan continues to face political tensions and delays in implementing its peace process. The envoy's message was directed at leaders across the political spectrum as the country navigates a fragile transitional period.
Why now: South Sudan's fragile peace process and ongoing political tensions make appeals for unity by international envoys newsworthy.
