Farage to pledge five-year suspension of UK asylum system

Nigel Farage is set to announce a plan to suspend Britain's asylum system for five years if Reform UK wins power, according to the Evening Standard. The pledge, framed as a response to figures including Afghan arrivals, would put him on a collision course with Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood and intensify the immigration debate ahead of the next election.
Why now: A dramatic immigration pledge from Reform UK directly challenges the government's asylum policy and is likely to shift the political debate.
