Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said Vladimir Putin is deliberately provoking Europe because he needs to divert attention from how the war in Ukraine is going on the battlefield. According to Meloni, the Russian leader is searching for a new enemy, and that enemy could be Europe itself. She urged vigilance, saying the West must remain alert and keep monitoring the situation as tensions continue.

Why now: Meloni's warning about Putin seeking a new enemy in Europe lands amid ongoing concern over Russia-Ukraine tensions.
