Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be executed in Britain, was hanged in 1955 for the shooting of her lover David Blakely. Seventy years after her death, her family has finally placed a headstone on her grave, marking a long-delayed moment of recognition and closure for relatives who have campaigned to remember her.
Why now: The 70th anniversary of her execution has renewed attention on a landmark case that still fuels debate about capital punishment and justice for women.
